In short
  • Silver pays for upgrades, gems are the scarce premium currency, energy is the gate to PvE fights.
  • Shards make new champions; potions ascend them; tomes upgrade their skills; scrolls unlock masteries; chickens are rare fodder.
  • Almost every dungeon exists to give you one particular kind of resource.
  • Many resources refill with time (energy, keys and tokens) - those are the ones you must not let overflow.

The big three

ResourceUsed forMain sources
SilverUpgrading and enhancing gear, ranking up champions, feeding fodder, buying from the Market, mixing potions.Campaign stages, dungeons, selling gear you will not use, quests, events.
GemsThe premium currency: energy refills, shop packs, extra storage, opening masteries. Also bought with real money.Quests, events and tournaments, account level-ups, login and progression rewards, some Arena and Clan Boss rewards.
EnergyEntering Campaign stages, dungeons, and many other PvE fights.Refills over time; also quests, login rewards, level-ups, chests and events.

Energy in detail

  • You gain one point about every 3 minutes while below your cap, which is roughly a full refill in six and a half hours.
  • The cap starts small and rises with your account level, settling at 130 around account level 60.
  • Above the cap, nothing refills. You can still hold more than the cap if a reward or a purchase pushes you over.
  • Levelling up your account refills energy in full.
  • Higher stages and tougher modes cost more energy per fight, so your cap goes less far as you progress.
Note Energy rates and caps have been stable for years, but check your own game's energy screen. Checked October 2026.

Shards and champions

A shard is a ticket for the Summoning Portal. Each type has different odds and can only produce certain champions: Mystery, Ancient, Void, Sacred, Primal and, during special events, Prism Shards. The odds, the mercy system and the events are all in Shards, summon chances and the mercy system.

Shards come from the Market, the shop (a free Mystery Shard each day and a free Ancient Shard each week), dungeons, the Clan Boss, the Arena, quests, missions and events. Prism Shards are different: they are opened with Prism Crystals, which come from events and the shop.

Growing a champion

ResourceUsed forWhere to get it
XP and XP brewsLevelling champions. A battle's experience is split between all champions on the team. Brews give experience directly in the Tavern.Campaign and dungeon fights; brews from events, tournaments, free packs and missions.
Fodder and chickensRanking up. A chicken counts as a champion of its star rank for this purpose.Mystery Shards for champions; chickens from Faction Wars, events, missions, quests and the Bazaar.
Potions (Arcane and one of the four affinities)Ascension. They come in Lesser, Greater and Superior sizes and can be mixed upwards in the Tavern. Common champions cannot be ascended. The Keep dungeons: the Arcane Keep for Arcane potions, and the Spirit, Magic, Force and Void Keeps for the matching affinity.
Skill tomesUpgrading a champion's skills. Each tome has a rarity: an Epic tome works on an Epic champion or lower, and so on.Events and tournaments, Faction Wars stars, clan and Clan Boss chests, missions and login rewards. Epic and Legendary tomes are scarce.
Mastery scrollsUnlocking a champion's masteries (permanent bonuses).Mainly the Minotaur's Labyrinth dungeon; some from missions. Gems can open a mastery too.
Gear and glyphsGear gives stats and set bonuses; glyphs are an extra stat upgrade you can attach to a piece of gear.Campaign and dungeons for gear; Faction Wars crypts for glyphs. See gear basics.
Tip Skill tomes and chickens are among the rarest resources. Save the high-rarity ones for a champion you are certain about.

Keys, tokens and medals

Hydra and Chimera keysOne fight each.Weekly: 3 Hydra keys and 2 Chimera keys. Hydra keys cannot be bought with gems.
Arena tokens and keysFights in the Classic Arena, Tag Team Arena and Live Arena, each with its own supply.Classic Arena tokens come back over time; check the Arena screen. See Arena.
MedalsBronze, silver and gold medals from the Arena pay for upgrades in the Great Hall, which grants permanent stat bonuses by affinity. The Great Hall is explained in its own guide.
Gold BarsCurrency of the Tag Team Arena, spent in the Bazaar. The Bazaar also sells things like energy and chickens for them.
Event currenciesPrism Crystals and other special tokens for limited-time events.Leftovers often carry to the next similar event, but the event page says for sure.

A simple way to think about it

Treat resources in three groups. Refilling ones (energy, keys, tokens) must be spent regularly or they are wasted. Scarce ones (gems, Epic and Legendary tomes, chickens, high-rank potions) should be spent on a plan. Plentiful ones (silver, XP, Mystery Shards, low-rank fodder) are what you spend freely, though silver always runs low in the end.

Note Sources, drop tables and shop contents change with game updates. This page describes the stable picture and was checked in October 2026.
