In short
  • A shard is a lottery ticket. Each type (Mystery, Ancient, Void, Sacred, Primal) has its own odds and its own bad-luck counter.
  • The mercy system slowly raises your odds after a long run without an Epic or Legendary from that shard type, and resets when you finally get one.
  • 2x events double the Epic and Legendary odds. 10x events do not - they make a named champion more likely when you pull one.
  • The mercy counter is hidden in the game, and each shard type counts separately.

The shard types

ShardWhat it givesNotes
MysteryCommon, Uncommon and Rare championsCheap and plentiful. This is where most of your fodder comes from.
AncientRare, Epic and LegendaryNever gives a Void champion. One is free in the shop every week.
VoidRare, Epic and Legendary - Void affinity onlyVoid champions can only come from Void Shards.
SacredEpic and LegendaryThe best odds for a Legendary, and the hardest to collect.
PrimalRare, Epic, Legendary and MythicalThe only shard that can give a Mythical champion.
PrismChampions from one limited poolUsed in "Summon Pool" events, opened with Prism Crystals. Odds and pool are shown on the event screen.

Published chances

The game shows these numbers behind the small "i" button on the Summon screen. They are per shard, with no event running.

Ancient--91.5%8%0.5%-
Void--91.5%8%0.5%-
Sacred---94%6%-
Primal--82.5%16%1%0.5%
Note Old guides list slightly different Void numbers (93.6 / 6 / 0.4), which come from the game's early days. The official site and current guides agree on the table above, but a patch can change them - check the "i" button. Primal numbers are from the launch announcement; they read like an Ancient Shard with doubled Epic and Legendary odds plus a small Mythical chance.

The mercy system

Plarium added a safety net for players who are unlucky. It counts how many shards of one type you have opened without getting a champion of a certain rarity. After the count passes a threshold, every further shard adds a bonus to the chance of that rarity, until you finally get one. Then the counter resets.

  • Each shard type has its own counters. Opening Sacred Shards does nothing for your Ancient counter.
  • Epic and Legendary count separately for Ancient and Void Shards. A Legendary does not reset a running Epic counter.
  • The bonus is added, not multiplied. A +2% bonus on an 8% chance makes 10%, not 8.16%.
  • You cannot see the counter. The game does not show it, so you have to keep your own tally if you care.

Note Sources disagree on two points, so treat them as unconfirmed. For the Ancient and Void Legendary bonus, every guide we found gives 200 shards as the threshold, but one says +5% per shard and another says +0.5% per shard. For the Primal Mythical rule, only one guide gives numbers. Plarium's support page for the mercy system is the place to confirm both. Checked October 2026.

Summon events

Several kinds of event run in rotation. They change the odds in different ways, so read the event text before you spend.

EventWhat it does
2x eventDoubles the Epic and Legendary chance for the featured shard types (Ancient, Void or Sacred). Each shard type gets one about every six weeks.
10x eventDoes not change the rarity odds. If you pull an Epic or Legendary, the featured champion is ten times more likely to be the one you get.
Guaranteed championOpen a stated number of shards during the event and you receive a named champion.
Progressive chanceYou choose some champions for special slots. Each summon of the matching rarity raises the chance of those champions, up to 25 times. Void and non-Void shards are tracked separately.
2-for-1 LegendaryPull a Legendary and a second, different one comes free. So far these have been for Sacred Shards.
Summon PoolPrism Shards pull from a limited list of champions chosen for the event.
Tip Many players keep their Ancient, Void and Sacred Shards for a 2x event, or for a 10x event that features a champion they want. If you are new and need a champion now, this is not a rule - just remember it exists.

Fusion in one line

A fusion is a time-limited event where you sacrifice a list of specific, well-built champions to create one new champion; see other modes.

Practical advice

  • Keep the shards you earn and open them in batches. Odds are the same per shard, but you will know your tally and can aim at events.
  • Do not expect a Legendary within a fixed number of shards. Mercy only protects against very long droughts.
  • Hold off on spending gems on packs just for the odds - the odds are the same as the free ones.
  • A summoned champion is a starting point. Read what they do on their champion page before you rank them up.
