In short
  • Faction Guardians (in the Guardian Ring, also called the Academy in the game's data) are the extra champions you place in slots to buff other champions of the same faction and the same rarity.
  • Every faction has its own slots, separately for Rare, Epic and Legendary champions: five slots each. A slot is active when it is filled.
  • The five slots unlock bonuses in a fixed order: HP%, ATK%, ACC and RES, DEF%, and SPD. All five together give +10% HP, +10% ATK, +10% DEF, a flat ACC and RES bonus and a flat SPD bonus.
  • Bonuses scale with rarity: a Legendary guardian slot gives more ACC, RES and SPD than an Epic one, and an Epic more than a Rare.
  • A guardian champion stays usable in battle; it just needs to be a spare copy of a champion of that faction and rarity.

What it is

Most champions you pull are duplicates you will never use. Faction Guardians is the game's way to give that fodder a second life. In the Guardian Ring you fill slots with champions of a given faction and rarity, and in return all champions of that faction and rarity on your account get stat bonuses, whether or not they are the same champion as the guardian.

The bonuses depend on the faction (Banner Lords, High Elves, Sacred Order, Barbarians, Ogryn Tribes, Lizardmen, Skinwalkers, Orcs, Demonspawn, Undead Hordes, Dark Elves, Knights Revenant, Dwarves, Shadowkin, Sylvan Watchers and Olympians) and on the rarity, but not on affinity. That is the difference from the Great Hall, which is by affinity.

The bonuses slot by slot

The table is the same for every faction. Slots open bonuses one after another, so the first filled slot always gives HP%, the second ATK%, and so on. The bonuses are cumulative: with three slots filled, you have slots 1, 2 and 3.

Slots filledNew bonus: RareEpicLegendary
1HP +10%HP +10%HP +10%
2ATK +10%ATK +10%ATK +10%
3ACC +7, RES +7ACC +15, RES +15ACC +30, RES +30
4DEF +10%DEF +10%DEF +10%
5SPD +3SPD +6SPD +10

HP, ATK and DEF bonuses are percentages of the champion's base stat and add into the same pool as the other percentage sources. ACC, RES and SPD are flat. Where your champion's stats come from shows how they combine.

Note Mythical champions can also be used as guardians since a later update, and community guides mention bonuses for them. We have no confirmed table for Mythical slots, so this page covers Rare, Epic and Legendary only. Checked 2026-10-15; the numbers above matched a 2021 community preview and a real account's stat sheet.

What to put in the slots

  • Duplicates and fodder. The slot needs a copy of a champion of the right faction and rarity. A slot is filled with two heroes, and guides report they must be copies of the same champion, so a Rare champion you own several copies of is a good guardian.
  • Priority. Each faction row is worth the same everywhere, so fill the factions your best teams are made of first. Legendary slots give the most (30 ACC and 30 RES at slot three, 10 SPD at slot five), so they are the ones to finish for a Legendary-heavy team.

Why it matters

A full Legendary row of one faction gives every Legendary of that faction +10% HP, +10% ATK, +10% DEF, +30 ACC, +30 RES and +10 SPD. +10 SPD is a lot: on a champion with a base of 100 it is a tenth of the speed with no gear spent. Because ACC and RES are flat, they help a debuffer or tank hit the gaps described in Landing debuffs.

Tip If you do not know where to start, count which faction has the most champions in your teams, pick the rarity most of them have, and fill that row first. Spare copies from summoning are the usual source.
